Dave Dearnley Interview Trailer

Here is a little peek at the interview Steve did for KCL at Moto Music With Dave.

Full Interview released Tomorrow.

Dave Dearnaley has a rich Yorkshire accent but is an adopted Welshman/Cardiffian, as far as KCL is concerned. He's one of the most well-known faces on the local music scene and is admired for his musicianship and ability to make beautiful guitars, by hand. Steve Johnson nipped down to Moto Music, Cardiff, to hear a few tales and Open D chords from the man himself.

Art Pop duo Blancmange formed in the late 70s and have since sold over 200,000 albums. Steve Johnson caught up with frontman, Neil Arthur to look back on his stellar music career and find out what’s still to come.

Gwenifer Raymond Vodcast

Gwenifer Raymond is truly a Welsh guitar great and is, sadly, nowhere near enough well-known, in her homeland. Gwenifer was born in Taffs Well, near Cardiff, leading to the title of her album, ‘Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain’, one of Uncut Magazine’s top 50 albums of 2020. She regularly tours the world, playing her self-penned, ‘American Primitive’ compositions on her cherished and much sought after, Waterloo guitar.  By day, Gwen is a game designer/ astro-physicist, by night, she is a truly extraordinary musician and composer.

Gwenifer returns to play in Cardiff on October 6th, at the Welsh College of Music and Drama; https://www.rwcmd.ac.uk/events/2022-10/gwenifer-raymond

Ultimate Cool Vodcast

In the days when Cardiff and Stuttgart regularly exchanged bands with each other, an outfit called Garbagehead, originally based in west Wales, emerged, as one of the more unusual and more musically sophisticated acts. Managed by Jeff and Bev Delacruz, the band earned rave plaudits for their musicianship and unforgettable live performances. Two former band members, Nigel and Jason, now go under the guise of 'Ultimate Cool'. KCL's Steve Johnson caught up with Nigel, in the USA and Jason (West Wales). He was also (eventually!) able to reunite the band members with their former management team, Jeff and Bev from their current base, of Tipperary, despite a few technical hitches! Nigel is also the main songwriter with Electrasy - https://www.officialcharts.com/artist/4761/electrasy/.

A good friend of Captain Sensible, Paul has also done many sessions, working with many musicians, including Johnny Thunders and Andrew Ridgely!! He has lived the majority of his life, in Cardiff, was heavily involved with Community Music Wales for a good number of years, and is a very well-known figure, in and around the capital city. In this interview, we talk about Paul’s career, his love of Rickenbacker basses, favourite bass players, the state of the music business, and surviving so long, in it, despite significant hearing impairment. There’s a lot to get through, in this 8 part series…
